Community Games Draughts Competition
On Friday 3rd of February Alan Kiernan, Billy Hamilton, Dylan hamilton, Dylan Ryan, Leo Ennis and Seán Wynne all went to Clondalkin for a draughts competition and were all hoping to win.
When we got there people were already practising and looked good so we immediately started practising ourselves. A few minutes later the U14 and U10 teams started to play their real matches. The other U12 team were also playing so we couldn't play. That was good because we got more training in and that was what we needed.
Soon we were called to play Clondalkin. Dylan was on board 1 which meant he was the captain.
Before the matches we found out who played black and who played white. The first round went well for us as we got six and a half points and they got three and a half points. The second round was even better. We beat Jobstown.
When the matches were finished they gave out the medals. The U10 team and U14 team got silver medals and we won gold as we came first. We are now representing Dublin in the Leinster final.
All the people from St. Judes Community Games were happy with our big achievement and all our teams walked out with medals around our necks.
We went to McDonalds to celebrate and are now looking forward to representing the Dubs!

Well done boys! We are all very proud of you here in Bishop Galvin. Good luck in the Leinster Final.
Football Teams 2011Below are the four teams who represented the school in the Cumann na mBunscol leagues.
FootballThe school football team under the management of Mr. Devaney and Mr. Lafferty are on the way to Croke Park. They have reached the final of Corn na nGearaltach in early December. No date is available to us of yet. Hopefully, the snow will not disrupt our plans this year - last year's final had to be postponed due to the inclement weather. A report, some photographs and more news will appear here in the next few days. Basketball TournamentOn Wednesday the 8th of June our 1st school basketball team went to a tournament in the Olblate Hall in Inchicore. Our team was getting good after all the training with Ms.King and Ms.Kelly. When we arrived we got to see the teams we would be playing against. They looked really good! Just before the matches started we got told the team for the first and second half. Our first match went really well. We won 28 – 4. We started to think we had a good chance of winning the tournament. The matches started getting tighter each time. We won our last match 6 – 4 that had meant we won every match. At the presentation when the organizer announced Bishop Galvin had won we were all really happy. When he handed the trophy to our captain Hana we all cheered. It was the first basketball trophy to be won by the school. By Ciara O Connor |
